Conference Offerings
FlorybelMusic offers the experienced amateur, professional and semi-professional string player the opportunity to spend 6 gratifying days playing chamber works in an informal atmosphere, as well as attending master classes and concerts by the artist-faculty.

  • Open to proficient string players
    (1 - 2 pianists are welcome at Alpeggio)

  • 1-2 accompanying wind players welcome (spouse)

  • Non-players welcome

  • 2 coached sessions per day (morning)

  • Support of professional musicians

  • Free playing in the evening

  • Private lessons on request

  • Short in-house presentation by participants at the end of the course

  • Open rehearsal by the coaches

  • Public concert by the coaches

Placement procedure
Acceptance will depend upon the number of applicants, their level of ability, and the balance among the instruments represented (a tape recording  may be requested). Enrolment is limited so that close contact between
the resident artists and the participants be ensured.

  • Music is assigned in advance. Two basic works are suggested for the workshop, but other works will be prepared as well
    (suggestions or special wishes are welcome)

  • Assignments will be sent 1 ½ month before the course starts, and after receipt of the deposit

Enrolment procedure

  • Participants are expected to prepare the works assigned
    (it is recommended to obtain the music upon receiving assignments
    and to number measures)

  • Pre-formed groups welcome (half of the working sessions only)

  • Non-players welcome according to space available

  • Cello rental possible

  • Languages spoken : English, French, German, Italian

  • Age : 18 to 88

  • Touristic visits in the afternoon, excursions

  • Large library and music stands available in Blonay (Alpeggio)

  • For the other workshops, participants will bring their favourite material and their stand

Nota bene: not only the quality of the music, but an open attitude and a positive spirit are of special value to ensure the success of the workshops.

Eligibility
Acceptance is dependant on applicant ability and the courses need for balance instrumentation. Required music is to be prepared carefully.

A typical day
Mornings begin at 8 am with breakfast. Coaching sessions with assigned ensembles follow from 9-10.30 and 11-12.30. Lunch is served at 12.30. Afternoons are free for excursions, or practice or private lessons or more free playing. The group assembles 2 or 3 times in the week for a full hour of master classes or open rehearsal at 5. 30
pm. Dinner is served at 7 pm. At 8, free groups are formed for free playing until 9.30. Fanatic players continue reading more repertoire with another group. Others simply enjoy sitting in a comfortable chair and relax with friends tasting a glass of local wine.

Housing and meals
Accommodation in double rooms, single when space available but limited. Extra cost in Blonay.
Full Board, coffee breaks.

Payment Terms
Deposit has to be made upon registration to secure place.
Full payment must be received at the latest 6 weeks before the event's date.

 

Cancellation Policy
Deposit is refunded if participant is not accepted.
If participant cancels his registration before the registration deadline, the deposit will be refunded after deduction of EUR 50./CHF 75.- handling fee.
If registration is cancelled after registration deadline, refund of the fee is at the discretion of the organiser.
If registration is cancelled after assignments have been mailed, the participant is responsible for find
ing a replacement, in which case he will contribute for half of the fee.
If no replacement can be found, the full fee remains due.
